Both of these new Mazda cars are at the top of their class and epitomize pure driving enjoyment. The 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata comes with a traditional convertible soft top, whereas the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF features a retractable fastback. If you’re worried about the soft top aging or fraying, or you’re concerned about a soft top providing enough protection from the cold weather that sometimes rears its head in the Pittsburgh area, you should probably buy the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF.Its coupe-style roof provides great protection when you need it, but on sunny days and mild nights the panel over the front seats and the rear window glass can retract for your enjoyment. Note though that with the roof panel stowed and the windows down, you’ll experience more wind buffeting than in the soft top model.
